Understanding the power of hydrogen

People have begun realizing that the fossil fuels are not going to stay for long. Moreover there has been devastating effect of the use of fossil fuel since they began to be extensively used once the industrialization began. The relentless use of the fossil fuels resulted in large scale pollution and brought great changes on the earth. A lot of species of flora and fauna are under the endangered category while others were already extinct. Forests have been cleared for the real estate development. Agricultural property is being replaced by the property to be used for construction of dwelling units for the huge number for people who do not have one.

Greenhouse gases have resulted in global warming. One can see the effects with large scale changes in the environment. Hurricanes, earthquakes, floods can be heard of anywhere and almost every other day on the planet leading to loss of life and property. Climatic changes have been seen in the past few years. It seems that the nature is on the course of punishing mankind for the devastation they have caused.

In such a scenario people have woken and are looking for alternative sources of energy in order to minimize the use of fossil fuels namely coal, gas, natural gas, gasoline to renewable sources which can be recreated and are clean and more efficient. Technology has been assigned the same task.

However, replacement and introduction of the greener, fuel is not an easy task. There are a lot of businesses which are involved in the research, funding, oil exploration, digging, extraction of oil, refining, production of byproducts and marketing of the fossil fuels. There are huge stakes of the money involved and people are not going to let it go so easily. Moreover the economies of a lot of countries are governed by the fuel demand and the extraction.

There are several other sources of renewable energy, which includes geothermal energy, Solar energy and hydroelectric energy. There are several benefits associated with these alternative sources of energy and they have really been successful in getting the pressure away from the fossil fuels.

However, Hydrogen power is the recent most to hit the blocks. Let us look at some of the benefits associated with it:

Oils and gas including other fossil fuels require extraction, processing and transportation to the specific locations where the users can get them. However, this is not the case with Hydrogen. One can get it almost anywhere.
Hydrogen is used in the systems which are specifically designed to produce energy. These systems enable the combination of Hydrogen with oxygen resulting in the production of water as a byproduct and a huge amount of energy which is utilized to run the vehicles, turbines to move generators and the likes. This source of energy is virtually free from pollution and generates no residues. The convenience of use is one of the major drivers for its popularity.
Hydrogen power basically uses water and hence is abundant and can be relied upon as a safe source of energy.
The process of electrolysis is used to generate Oxygen and hydrogen. Production of hydrogen in the electrolyze produces a huge amount of energy which is further channelized to get the desired results and run the different equipments.
The only deterrent in the path of using Hydrogen as a source of fuel is its cost of production which is too high now. There are several techniques implemented which have helped bring the cost down considerably but there still requires a lot of efforts. The cost of the equipments which carry out the process of electorlysation needs to be worked out so that they come down.

Hydrogen is capable of replacing the fossil fuels as an alternative source of energy. Provided its immediate availability it can be of great help in the future and a world which cannot run in the absence of the fossil fuels.
