Understanding the effect of technology on our lives

Technology is getting faster by each passing day. Gadgets and equipment which are launched with great excitement become obsolete within a few days whereas they remained valid for a few months previously. Equipments are getting smarter and the world is moving into the place where there is comfortable life everywhere. Governments are finding it tough to stand out the pace with which the technology is changing. Introduction of new policies to the changing environment requires quick action.

Humanity is also getting affected by the super fast technological changes. In fact growth of the humans follows a pattern in development which takes its own time. Children learn through experience and interacting with other humans. Emotional maturity comes with time. However, in the current scenario life has become too dependent on the technology and we are living our lives through wires technically being dependent on the mobiles, internet and other gadgets. Whatever we want we can get through the internet and can communicate with each other using the mobile phones.

The result of the excessive dependence on technology is that we are living an isolated life. Humans are not designed by God to live like that. In fact we are a class of people who are social beings and live in communities.

Electronic media and the world of technology have pushed us to the limits where we have begun thinking that what we experience through the technology is the real world. The technological advancements have given us gadgets which have made our lives simpler beyond expectations. Our interaction with the other human beings is narrowing down. We are left alone with the gadgets. We believe that there’s no world beyond the gadgets.

We have become robots. We are more excited about the new inventions and the technologies rather than interacting with the family. The core human developmental process sets the in the development path of the cognitive process, communication skills understanding of the human relations. All these features on the back burner in the current circumstances.

People are learning to act through simulation techniques which are basically suppositions and assumptions and situations which are man-made or virtual. One needs to act in accordance with the same. Children have forgotten playgrounds and are hooked on to the television playing video games. They are far from reality and grow in the virtual world devoid of human interaction. Similarly students learn through the same techniques to get ready to face the world. Adults in business or jobs are again dealing with the virtual world.

This shows that we are far from the real world and prefer to interact with machines more than the humans. This has led us to be far away from the emotional circumstances and hence tend to focus material growth.

This leads to the situation wherein our nervous system does not grow to the expected levels. Thus we have a body attuned to react to the modern life but far away from the emotions.

This world needs to behave in a way which help in the human development with the mind and the way we live. We need to integrate technology with the human needs so as to experience better living. This is where the grass root technologies come into play.
