Cancer And The Health Technologies

Cancer had ruined many lives in the past as well as it can possibly ruin many lives in the future. According to statistics, there are almost 12 million people who have been diagnosed with new cancer cases in the year 2008 all over the world. Among these 12 million people worldwide, more than 7 million lost their lives because of the uncontrolled growth of the cancer cells in their body. Thus, every day of the year 2008, there are almost twenty one thousand deaths a day merely because of cancer. Experts are expecting that the number of these cancer patients will even grow bigger by the year 2030.

Cancer is a serious disease. It is mainly because of a cell that has an abnormal growth in the body. This cell, if damaged and is divided in an uncontrollable way, can grow tumours that can eventually harm the body.  These tumours if each one grows bigger can harm the different systems of our body including the digestive, circulatory, and the nervous system. It can even alter the body functions by helping the body release hormones that can do so
.

Over the years, though, with the help of technology, medical experts and other people all over the world had been trying to find treatments of cancer. Nowadays, despite the number of cancer deaths, some still survived and it is mainly because of the help of today’s medical treatments. Health technologies are helping communities, the people, to improve and have quality lives as well as save the lives of people who are in need of treatment. Among health technologies that can treat cancer include Three-Dimensional Conformal Radiation Therapy (3DCRT), Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Linear Accelerators, and so on. These technologies usually use radiation in order to kill the tumours that are growing in the body. Three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy, for example, is a cancer treatment where medical experts uses technology that can use beams of radiation that are formed and manipulated in order to match the tumours in the body of the patient.

There are many different and complex causes of cancer, and in response to the death and number of diagnosed cancer patients, people are still in search of health technologies that can perfectly cure people with cancer, easier and faster. It is never easy and that one can never assure what will happen in the future. They might find one or they may not. Nevertheless, in order for people survive, one must absolutely prevent cancer in their lives. It is better to avoid its causes rather than cure its effects.
