What Biotech Recruitment Officers Are Looking For

Biotech recruitment is now underway in earnest, as the industry seeks to build on the research which has been carried out over the previous two decades. There are still positions for researchers, who are at the cutting edge of the technology and its potential, but you are obviously going to need a high level of education to be able to qualify for these positions. There are positions in sales which need less in terms of qualifications, but far more in proven ability and experience, and also positions in administration and customer relations.

Research positions may be the most difficult to get into, but they are also the ones which can produce the highest degree of satisfaction and career fulfillment. You will definitely need to be university trained to be able to break into one of these positions, but this is now an achievable target for anyone with the basic aptitude for the career and a good enough performance in high school to be able to qualify for the initial courses. Positions which require university degrees are now more accessible to people who cannot spend years on a college campus. This is because of the rapid growth in online learning programs, many of which are arranged and organized by the same colleges which run the equivalent campus program. As most of biotechnology is theory based, it makes an ideal subject to study at home through an online portal. There are always tutors online to answer questions and help students to get the best from their study program, and online communications allows for easy interaction between students.

Much of the most urgent need for biotech recruitment is in the field of sales, as the companies who have taken their venture capital and used it for research now need to go out into the field and sell their work to the target markets. This is not usually a difficult sell, once the benefits are explained to the consumer. The only stumbling block is that people will want extensive reports of the trials which have taken place, and proof that what they are buying into will be safe and legal. This is especially true in the agricultural sector, where trials have often been blocked by political interests.

If you are looking for a job in the biotechnology sector which does not demand a huge level of experience or a university qualification, you can always consider becoming part of the administration team at a research center or commercial outpost. There will always be plenty of competition for jobs in these sectors, because the skills which are needed are similar to those needed by many other administration jobs in other sectors. If you have a solid administration background and some knowledge of the biotechnology industry, you can certainly stand out from the crowd.

Those in charge of biotech recruitment are going to be extremely busy in the coming years. There many positions to fill, and the recruiters will have to weed out many applications from people who are not qualified for a position, or who have none of the attributes which are needed. Each resume is only going to be studied briefly before it is either thrown out or allowed to advance to the next stage. You will need to make sure that any achievements or relevant data can be clearly seen above the fold on page one, so it can be seen by those carrying out biotech recruitment.
